I have a SE with ios 11.1.2
after i take a picture with HDR on, if i exit and go back to the camera it turns off and i have to turn it back on manually
Is there any way to keep HDR on at all times ?
Turn on HDR in Camera app.
Go to Settings-> Camera-> Preserve Settings.
I have an SE too and it’s working on mine.
What the OP wants is for HDR to be permanently on for every picture taken. This is an option on iPhone X, but I don't believe HDR permanently on on iPhone SE is an option for every picture taken. If I'm wrong though, please let us know. It would greatly help with this question for others who may pop in with a similar question.
Unfortunately, on a SE, I don't believe you can do that.
Do you have " Keep normal photo " enabled or not ?
I've sort of resolved this, it stays on " Auto " so it detects when HDR is needed, so its technically not off all the time.

That's likely because on iPhone SE, you have to choose HDR for each photo you take. Just having HDR on in settings doesn't make each photo HDR unless you choose HDR at the time you are ready to take a photo.
Oh no one of the reasons i upgraded from my iphone 4s using 9.3.5 to an SE with ios 11 was to have this function on.
Any idea why we cant do it on an SE ?
