Click on the Dropbox icon in the menu bar. Then click on the right most icon (looks like a nut), then Preferences.

https://www.cultofmac.com/419083/how-to-change-where-mac-screenshots-get-saved/

  1. Launch the Terminal app on your Mac.
  2. At the prompt, copy & paste the following command:
  3. defaults write com.apple.screencapture location ~/Desktop
  4. Press Enter on your keyboard.
  5. Now copy & paste killall SystemUIServer.
  6. Press Enter on your keyboard.

To show Clipboard, go to Finder menu > Edit > Show Clipboard

Hi. Thanks I found the App and followed the instructions. I tested it and saw flashed up in the top right of my screen that the Screenshots are being saved in my Dropbox (I found the others there that I couldn't locate). Does that mean they will never save automatically in the Desktop. I'm paying for Dropbox so not keen to have then saving there if I decide to move to another Cloud option in the future.

Um.

I've just tried the instructions again copying and pasting the 'bold' wording but again on testing it just saved to the Dropbox (and it said, put a copy on the Clipboard).

I'll just have to fish them out of the Dropbox (it works fine on my MacBook Pro so could not understand why I couldn't find them in my iMac). Perhaps I need to upgrade form El Capitain.

Thanks for your help

Much easier:

Download the free app "Onyx" (each version of macOS has a version of Onyx) at https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html

Tread carefully, you can do serious damage in here.

Click on "Parameters" > "General".

While you're there you can change the file format that it produces.

Onyx can change many parameters you never knew existed.

It's very powerful, doing things most people will use the UNIX Terminal for.

Some changes require a Restart.

Just use it only if you know exactly what you're doing.
