Everything about it looks faked - if you are referring to YouTube videos and such

This thread suggests that it all got started - LAST YEAR - with promos by a couple of retailers = Target & BestBuy

Why should it. If it was a promotion (the nature of which Apple does not engage in) it would be shouted from the roof tops.

No - not currently, when purchased from Apple.

Other retailers' promotions may vary - check with the retailer.
