Series 3 answer and place calls with bluetooth earbud

I am thinking of purchasing the series 3 watch but I want to know if you can answer and place calls hooked up to a bluetooth earbud away from the iphone. I have a series 2 and I can do this but I need to have my phone in range?

iPhone 5s, iOS 10.0.2

Hi

Apple Watch supports using compatible Bluetooth headphones that are paired to the watch for listening to music that has been synced to your Apple Watch, but not for making or receiving phone calls.
