iMovie project won't open from external harddrive

Hi,

I have an iMovie project saved on my external hard drive (WD My Passport Ultra). I am trying to open it but when I select it, it open iMovie but not the project.

This has never happened before, and I wonder if it's because I updated to the new iOS or something like that.

Please help, the movie is really important.

Thank you.

Please be more specific. What version of iMovie. The only version of iMovie that runs properly in High Sierra is 10.1.8. This version uses libraries to store projects, events and media. Don't know what you mean when you say you select it and iMovie opens. Do you mean you are double clicking on the library and iMovie opens? If so go to the projects tab and double click on your project to open it. If you are using iMovie 11/version 9 then I assume you opened the iMovie projects folder and double clicked on your project. In iMovie 11/9 you double click on the project in the project window to open it in the timeline.
