How do I stop automatic updates when phone charges at night?

First of all, you should set "Do Not Disturb" so that you are not interrupted at night. Settings > Do Not Disturb. Then set the times to coincide with your sleep patterns.
Secondly, having the phone plugged in and on WiFi overnight is very useful, so that your phone will be fully charged in the morning and an overnight backup will have occurred to the iCloud.
Occasionally, a software update will happen, but I have never heard of it canceling out your preferences or resubmitting texts. Please provide more information on this.

My iphone 8 plus automatically updates overnight and cancels out a lot of my preferences. It also resubmits any texts I have not opened. So it wakes me up with the text sounds. Very frustrating! How do I stop the overrides of my preferences?
