I connect my air pods to my iPhone. But when I make a call it switches back to the phone. I can never use my airpods to talk on the phone. I even open the box and click on the air pods but it goes back to iPhone.

I am trying to use my Airpods for answering calls and and making calls. It connects but immediately goes back to iPhone. Therefore lose the call. Even if I open the list of possible connections that AirPod is one of the choices, clicking on it does nothing. It goes back to iPhone.

Hello iphoneCrazy,

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are able to use your AirPods but when you answer calls the connection switches to the iPhone instead of the AirPods. There are a few things you can do that may be able to help. I would recommend you read these articles and use them to help troubleshoot the issue.

Update the iOS on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the icon next to your AirPods.2 Then tap Forget This Device.
  2. Put your AirPods in the case and close the lid. Wait 15 seconds, then open the lid.
  3. Place your AirPods close to your device. Follow the steps on your device's screen.
  4. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until you see the status light flash white.
  5. Follow the steps to set up a Bluetooth device with your iPhone or iPod touch, Mac, or Apple TV (4th generation).
