I already call my cell phone company, they did a reset, and the same thing happens to me, the problem with the visual voicemail continues. My wife has an iphone 5S and she tells me that when she did the upgrade her visual voicemail did not work and she could not see the messages.
Visual Voicemail is a carrier feature and your carrier can assist you.
I have the same problem called my carrier who reset my voicemail & I still have the problem.
