2016 Word 15.14 update issue saving docx files

On my mid-2011 iMac running Sierra 10.12.6 and Office 2016, I updated Office to v 15.14. Now every time I open Word or go to save an existing .docx file it prompts me about a global format file type a bunch of times which I've never seen before. This is very annoying so I'm curious if anyone else sees this and if they've been able to turn off whatever it is that causes it. I'd love to revert to the previous version since I never had problems with it.

Kappy...after reviewing the messages, I managed to open the disk finder, click the Go menu, reveal the hidden folder by holding down the option key then navigated the path to the templates folder, changed the name of the file to 'xxxnormal.dotm' and BINGO! It worked. Sorry for the amateurish behavior, but I'm still learning Mac and this has helped figure out the hidden folder with Office as well. Happy Turkey. Jonathan

No problem. Wish I thought of that but since retiring I don't work with Office very much. Today Apple has beefed up the security of the OS to the point where many files cannot be modified. Office must deal with these changes.

I'm pleased you solved your problem. Like you I often find that the simplest problems can sometimes take ages to figure out because the "simple" answer is the last one you think of. 😁

Happy Thanksgiving to you.
