Why is my music pausing whenever I get notifications?

I play music on my phone on speaker and every single time I get a notification my music pauses...it doesn’t go quiet to alert me for notifications because that’s an easy fix...it just pauses. This started happening after I updated to iOS 11.1.1, I have an iPhone 7 Plus if that helps!
