my font is installed but MS Word for Mac doesn't see it

I downloaded a new font and installed it into Font Book. But when I look for it in MS Word it isn't there. I thought newly installed fonts were automatically included in all apps.

OS is High Sierra 10.13.1

Font Book is version 8.0

Word is 14.7.3

I've installed fonts previously with no problems, but not since I upgraded to the latest OS. Is there a system problem or am I missing a step?

Were the Office apps already running when you added the fonts? If so, that's why you don't see them. Office apps must be closed and launched again in order for them to see newly activated fonts. Office has always been like this, and Office 2016 is no different.
