Gmail cannot load in macbook air

Hi,

I have a MacBook Air 13-inch, Early 2015.

Everytime i try to open Gmail in the safari browser, it starts loading and keeps on loading forever (screenshot below).

It does not load and thus i cannot access Gmail in macbook. I have also downloaded Google Chrome and tried opening Gmail, but the same thing happens there.

Could you please help me with this.

Greetings pk107,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It seems like you are not able to load Gmail through a couple different web browsers. Since you have already tried different browsers, it seems like this is isolated to that web page. It could be that there is something running in the background that is interfering with that specific site loading, maybe a plugin or a login item. You can test this by creating a new test user account, logging out and in with the new user and connecting to your Wi-Fi network, then visit the site again. I would recommend you read this article, it explains how to create the test user profile.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Take care.

Hey pk107,

Thanks for the update. If the issue persists in different user accounts and you are having trouble installing macOS High Sierra. Since there seems to be an issue system-wide, it may be possible that this is an issue with the disk writing data. One thing you can do is to boot to Recovery and use Disk Utility to see if there is something that needs to be repaired.

Disk Utility: Use Disk Utility to repair or erase your startup disk or other hard disk.

About macOS Recovery

  1. Choose Apple menu > Restart. After your Mac restarts (some Mac computers play a startup sound), press and hold the Command and R keys until the Apple logo appears, then release the keys.

  2. Click Disk Utility, then click Continue.

  3. In the sidebar, select the disk you want to repair.

  4. Click the First Aid button User uploaded file.

If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back up your data and replace the disk. You can’t repair it. Otherwise, continue to step 6.

  5. Click Run.

If Disk Utility reports that the disk appears to be OK or has been repaired, you’re done.

Cheers.

Hey brenden,

Thanks for the help.

I created a new user account and when i logged in (with the new account), I again cannot open Gmail. The following error creeps in:

The same error comes when i try to open www.google.com. However, when i am opening other websites such as apple.com, everything works fine.

I am currently working on OS X Yosemite (Version 10.10.5).

As recommended; I am trying to upgrade to MacOS High Sierra, but the installer remains at a particular position and does not move further (snapshot below):

So basically, the update is also not happening.

Could you advise further?

Thanks

Hey chris_g1,

According to your suggestion; I followed the steps to repair the disks. I ran the repair disk on two disks(which were showing in the Disk Utility):

1. Macintosh HD

2. OSX Base System

In both cases, it showed that the disk appears to be OK.

But the problem is still happening. Can you suggest something else?
