Back camera black screen on iphone 8 plus

Hi just wondering what did you do to make it work ? Anyone fixed this ? I am having exactly the same issue. Tried everything but nothing works. :(

You see a closed lens or black screen

If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps:

1. Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
2. Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.
3. Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
4. If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping . If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

Not helpful because you can't be expected to go through all these steps each time you have a black screen on the camera. There goes the shot. 😕

Any fix for this? Been having this issue since last night. Camera and flash works fine using apps like Facebook. But not on iPhone itself.

Unfortunately I have the same issue with my iPhone 8!!!! I did everything you suggest but nothing happens. Still no work. Any idea? I guess I should return it to the store I bought it and they should try to make it work or replace it. I bought just 4 months ago!

Same thing on my daughters brand new iphone 8plus. 3 days old. Camera works in other apps just not camera app. Reset of phone did not fix issue..

Is it helpful? No. This has happened several times and restarting the phone to resolve it isn't an adequate response.

Note that my phone is an iphone 8, not an 8+, suggesting this is definitely a software issue.

My camera is not working. It works on certain apps. That means it is a software issue.

Hi!!! I contact the store where I bought it. They send it for service using the guarantee and they replaced it with a new one!!!!
