Anyone know how to set the display gamma on High Sierra (I have 10.13.1) to 2.2? I have a 27 inch iMac. Having trouble calibrating the display via a hardware device called a Spyder.

My bad, you will need to open Color Calibrator Assistant in Expert Mode.
To do that, go to > Apple > System Preferences > Displays > Color > hold the ALT (option) key and click Calibrate...
Then click the Continue button until you get to Target Gamma....
Again, my bad... the Expert Mode check box was hidden a number of years and OS's ago.
You can check and adjust the Display gamma setting using your Mac's built in ColorSync Utility.

How does one get the expert mode checkbox to appear?
The calibration panel on 10.13 lacks the gamma slider that's in the document you pointed to, which is from an older OS version. The 10.13 panel has brightness, white point only.
