My thunderbolt bridge is not active for the ethernet connection.

I just got an ethernet connector for my 2017 MacBook Pro and it says that the Thunderbolts are inactive. How do I activate them to receive the connection?

Hi sandrajenelle,

I understand that you are trying to use an Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter with your MacBook Pro, but your Thunderbolt connections are shown as Inactive. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

I recommend checking out the article below for the correct steps to configure this adapter:

Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Follow the steps below to quickly set up an Internet connection through one of these adapters if you've not used that adapter with your Mac before.

  1. From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
  2. Choose Network.
  3. Connect your Thunderbolt or USB Ethernet adapter.
  4. Select the device and configure your network.

Note: If the adapter settings are not initially confirmed when you plug in the adapter, you may not be able to get online. To resolve this, unplug the adapter and then follow the above steps.
