How to burn an iMovie to a DVD without iDVD?!

I have created a project on iMovie (mp4 file). I would like to burn it to a DVD to watch it there. I do not have iDVD. I understand I will need a third party app to do this. Who has (RECENT) experience doing this, and what app is recommended (most user friendly). I am ok with having to pay for an app. Please (please!) somebody help me. Currently using High Sierra (10.13.1)

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

If you are using iDVD with El Capitan or Sierra see this thread:

Hi,

Folks who don't use iDVD usually use Roxio Toast. Reports are that it works great, although it has

less theme options than iDVD.

You can also download iDVD from Amazon as part of the iLife '09 or '11 package. iDVD has some issues with High Sierra, if you are using that operating system, but I have been able successfully to burn a project. I haven't fully tested it on High Sierra yet. iDVD works fine on all previous operating systems.
