Since upgrading to mac OS high sierra, photo quality on Epson ET-4500 has been very poor. I have used top setting in Photos, but the print quality looks like a draft print. The printer is printing fine on my partners PC laptop. Quality was fine before the upgrade. I have deleted and re-loaded the printer in system settings.

Per chance, did you go to the Epson support site to see if this printer has an updated driver for macOS High Sierra?
go into the printer pane and then option and supplies. what version is the printer driver? and is the Utility tab there? if not then follow this sequence to install the updated printer software. First two screen shots follow the blue
then select option & supplies to check on version # and Utility

Another option would be to enable the CUPS printer interface to see if yo can get more control over this printer.
Yes, on the current version of the drivers 9.60 (updated epson software from mac app store on 27-Oct).
thanks - looks like i am on the right driver version (9.60) - no idea what is going on, but the printer is printing as if in draft mode.
