Hold down the Option key in iPhoto and click on the Buy Book button at the bottom of the book mode:

You'll get a save window with the book as a pdf file. The first page of the pdf file will be the book's jacket. This is the only way to get the dust jacket to be presented one page. The other methods to produce a pdf file of the book creates two pages for the dust jacket.

There you can see where the spine text is taken from.

Ah! That makes much, much more sense. I assume you mean "Photos" as iPhoto has been deprecated and you can no longer order photo books from it.

Idris, perhaps you did not notice it, but Apple relented, and it is again possible to order books using iPhoto 9.6.1. It was only for about half a year, that we could no longer order photo books from iPhoto. This page lists again iPhoto for print products:

Details about books, cards, and calendars ordered in Photos for OS X and iPhoto - Apple Support

Only Aperture books cannot be ordered from Apple any longer.

No, I didn't know that. Thanks for the update, leonie!

I'm going to request that this post be moved to the correct forum. There are lots of very knowledge people there who should be able to help you.

You might want to consider just reposting in the Photos forum yourself, though, as you've already marked this one as solved.

Best of luck.

Have you ever seen the spine in a preview of a Photos book, Larry? When I create a preview as instructed, I can only see the covers, but not the spine. That was different for iPhoto books. But all Photos books I ordered from Apple, did show the title on the spine of the dust jacket when I received the printed version.
