Why isn't there a communist flag emoji or at least a hammer and sickle one?

Not a much a tip for the common user but a tip for Apple.

Let me start by telling you a story about how a friend's father was betrayed by the current system. Just earlier today my friend received a message from their loving father. Where their father had been brutally forced to use the Vietnamese flag instead of the communist flag because Apple's emojis don't already include one.

I fully understand that the communist symbol of the hammer and sickle brings a lot of unfortunate memories to mind, but nevertheless, a lot of communist and communist parties still exist today and maybe it is too much to ask of Apple to include the Soviet flag as one of their many emojis. Regardless of that, I think that everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves fully through emojis and keeping in mind that Apple already has included multiple faiths and religious symbols in their emojis they should only include the hammer and sickle as well.

To begin with, Apple doesn't define the emoji character set. That is controlled by the Unicode consortium. Take your complaint to them.

I'd wager the odds of getting a Communist flag are only marginally better than those of getting a Nazi flag...

If your friend’s father was brutally forced to use a Vietnamese flag emoji, I think he has bigger problems than the lack of a hammer and sickle emoji.

Probably not going to happen because of the history behind it (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). Someone was asking why the Rebel (Confederate) Flag was not in the list. Nowadays, especially after Charlotteville, it is now seen as a racist symbol. Anyone caught and identified at that rally, and anyone posing with that flag has been fired from their place of employment.

So both of those ideas will be shot down in quick order. Can you imagine the backlash if Apple did allow the Confederate Flag, as an emoji? Charlottesville changed everything. You would see a iOS update pretty fast, faster than a general patch that addresses several problems into one.

Faith and religious symbols are a completely different animal altogether.
