iPhone X won't connect to '07 S550 Mercedes

I am able to complete the pairing process for my car and my car shows up in the list of devices on my phone, but when I attempt to connect the iPhone to the vehicle, the iPhone says the device is unsupported and only provides me the option to forget the device. Actually, it forces me to forget the device.

I previously had my iPhone 6 paired to the car just fine, even under iOS 11.

My vehicle is an 07 w221 Mercedes-Benz S550. I love my car! I don't want to lose my Bluetooth connectivity 😟

Any ideas?

Well go figure, I got it to work.

For future reference, I did a factory reset on the head unit. Then instead of pairing through the head unit, I paired directly from the puck in the console. Found the pin 62872 and entered that in and it worked. Yay!

Apple did say that the consortium did deprecate though, and thats what they are using. I guess this is more of a Mercedes issue than a Apple one.

I actually got the 2008 software install on my '07 head unit so it would support video dvd and also live traffic updates and actually just recently got my patches applied so everything is up to date.

It seems that I just needed to wipe the data and then pair directly from the puck in the console rather than pairing from the head unit software. I am unsure if the data wipe was helpful or not, but I did it at the same time as pairing from the puck. I was able to pair my 6+ and previous phones directly through the head unit software previously, so looks like something is up with the car where I need to do it straight from the puck for now on.

Hopefully, this post helps some other person who has a similar problem, even though this does not seem to be an Apple problem.
