Has anyone heard of the iPhone X overheating using a privacy screen or a tempered glass? I've read some stuff on line, but I don't necessarily believe it. Does anyone know for sure? I have an X on order and just want to be ready to go when it gets here. Thank you.
There is no reason an iPhone X would overheat from a screen protector. No one I know of with a screen protector on theirs has had this issue.
I have a screen protector on my iPhone X, and if it is designed for the iPhone X, then it should have a notch out of it so it matches the screen. That is where the proximity sensor is at, so the screen protector should not be covering it, since that would also cover the camera, etc. If yours is covering it, then it is not designed for the iPhone X. I would remove it. Mine has a notch, and it has not caused any issues whatsoever with my screen brightness.
He already said he has the Belkin. You can get it at an Apple Store and get it installed with the jig he referred to. I have the Zagg Sapphire Defender.
They don't have a screen yet, they said from what they were reading on the internet they assumed they would have to turn the brightness all the way up. They couldn't be blocking the notch since they have yet to buy a screen cover.
The first time that I had to replace a screen on my daughter's iPhone 6, I had one put on. Once since, she cracked that screen protector which saved the phone screen. So I tried using her phone several times and really thought it was an extension of the screen. Nothing like any other screen protector I had used before. I watched them attach it, and was impressed on how it put the protector exactly in place with that jig. So, when I fell and cracked around the home button of my iPhone 7, I put one on mine. I got one for the iPhone X, and really appreciated the fact that as soon as we removed the plastic protection on the phone, it went right into the jig for the screen protector. I fit perfectly. At this point, I am truly enjoying it.
I was just wondering if the OLED screen would be affected? My thinking would be that the auto-bright would be turned all the way up to compensate for the privacy screen.
I'm not using a privacy screen so I could not answer you as to where you would have to set the brightness. Even up all the way an OLED screen should generate very little heat.

I've got a Belkin tempered glass and the OP mentioned the screen brightness would be turned up. I guess I said proximity sensor instead of the brightness sensor. That what you were referring to?
Duh, I looked right past that. I guess that my recommendations could be used for future purchase?! 😊
I liked them and will use them for future recommendations.
I went with the Zagg Sapphire instead of the Belkin. I guess I am old-fashioned and like watching them put it on by hand.
