Software takes too long to "ship"
Greetings forum.
I haven't found any other recent posts about this so I figure'd I would bring the case to the community's attention hoping there are others in a similar situation.
I transitioned from Adobe Creative Cloud because they got greedy and finally gave Final Cut Pro a real chance.
(here is where we skip all the "you should have used FCP the whole time comments, lesson learned - haha)
Downloaded the 30 day trial and was amazed, of course. Upon arriving at the office one morning, i got the "your trial has expired" window. Figured "no problem, I work for an educational institution so I'll use the discount to get the 5-app bundle from Apple at an insanely discounted rate. That's awesome."
Went on the Apple Education site and purchased the bundle, expecting to receive a confirmation email and something like a link to download my purchase. Here's where it got weird.
"Your purchase is being processed"
..?
... Checked my bank - the payment was most DEFINITELY charged, so where is my software?
End of day 1: "Your purchase is being processed"
Morning of day 2: "Your order has been shipped"
... Shipped?! It's an email!
"Estimated delivery time 1-3 business days"
So here I am, on business day #3, waiting for software I purchased but can not use. My work has come to a grinding halt as I frantically check my spam folder every 20 minutes.
I have never, EVER, had to wait at all (needless to say not THREE DAYS) for software I have purchased.
Moral of the story: If you buy software on the Apple website, be prepared for it to get shipped to you over the course of several days, don't rely on the software being available to you immediately (which is the norm in the rest of the software world).
