iphone 7 battery drain after update to 11.1.2

I don't even know how I updated my phone, I usually wait until Apple takes care of all of their bugs before finally updating. But, somehow I did and now my battery is draining crazy fast! Did it reset one of my background settings? Or is it just Apple trying to get me ditch my phone for their latest model?

iPhone 7, iOS 11.1, 11.1.2

I had the same problem, I managed to fix this by actually seeing what app drained the most battery, I had my phone in battery power mode also and it was draining as h*ll. The default mail app was draining the most around 67% deleted the app and restarted the phone. Everything was back to normal.

You might have giving that a thought already but doesn't hurt to see if that affects anything.

I have Youtube installed and its updated to the latest version.

Is Youtube also causing this?

Started to work at 8 CET today with 100% around 10 CET (2 hours later) the battery was on 20 %.

I could see under battery in settings that the default mail app was draining battery at 67%, the things is that I have the settings to fetch mail when opening the app so its not running in the background, I have also closed this under Settings --> General --> Background App Refresh, but its still draining as ****.

I ended up deleting the app few minutes after 10 CET and now at around 16 CET the battery procent is around 12% I have been using the phone during that time also.

Basically I ended up uninstalling the default mail app and I am using Gmail app now, its seems to have resolved my issue now but surly this should be brought up for a permanent fix in the future.

Similar problem with my iPhone 7 after update to 11.2. Looks like many are experiencing issues. On my phone the battery actually is NOT draining abnormally. Rather, the percentage of battery remaining DISPLAYED is incorrect. If I restart the phone, the percentage displayed is accurate afterwards. For example, went to bed with percentage in 70% range, in morning was 1%. Power cycled the phone and percentage displayed was back to 70%. As a test, I let the phone sit at 1% several hours this morning and it worked just fine all that time. When I eventually restarted it, it displayed in the expected normal range over 60%.

Hello Jreichanadter,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities and asking about your iPhone battery. Let me offer some things to check for this.

First and most important will be to check out this help article about batteries: Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan Tips for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

The article includes lots of great information along with multiple tips to help you maximize your battery life. Once you have gone through all the tips, if you are still experiencing issues, this help article talks about the importance of using and storing your device within the recommended temperatures: Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures

If you are using your device in conditions outside of the normal recommended ambient temperatures, the device may behave differently as described in that article.

Next, I recommend checking your settings. Please review all your settings to ensure you are getting maximum life from your battery based on how you utilize your iPhone.

The last thing you can check is in Settings > Battery. This area shows everything that is using your battery, and breaks down by percentage (if you have that option enabled), the apps that are using your battery the most.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

I also have the same version 11.2.1 and with 11.2 all is great with battery on my iPhone 7 and only after 11.2.1 severe battery drain occurs and need to charge 2x per day to 100%. I have 2 iPhone 7 and have not updated the other due to this issue. After 4 hours standby my 11.2.1 iPhone 7 is at 24% and my 11.2 is at 95%. Very significant difference... both phones are only 1 yr old so if there was firmware introduced to control battery life I would suggest to remove As it is clear the software is causing the problem between my two iPhone 7. I am looking for a way to downgrade to 11.2.

Same issue here on iPhone 7 iOS 11.3.1, background app refresh off , deleted all unused apps.... when I use the phone it drop 10-15 percent in only 10 minuted of use in any app, it’s very frustrating; the absolute worse is when I leave it in my pocket it will always drop to 50% with absolute 0 use (I’m at school)... might want to switch to pixel 2
