Tell iCloud to ignore certain files or folders

I'd like some kind of a .gitignore equivalent for iCloud Drive where I can tell it to ignore certain files/folders other than .tmp which is currently ignored automatically. I'd like to reduce the number of changes being synced and potential version conflicts in folders that are constantly changing, for example, the folder where temporary build files are created and updated.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Michael.

Larry,

Is this something that you've researched in detail? I ask as I wasn't clear if you'd just not seen a solution or if you'd looked through any developer guidelines or found any undocumented markers that Apple may use to determine a folders eligibility for sync - something similar to the markers they place on time-machine volumes for example.

Thanks, MPT.
