Time Machine Menu Bar Gray Icon

I don't recall which recent update this behavior changed (I think 10.12), but I miss the grayed out Time Machine icon in the menu bar when Time Machine automatic backups are disabled. I turn off automatic backups when I'm traveling, and the grayed-out icon was my reminder that backups were disabled.

Please bring the grayed-out icon back or give users the option.

To put it in the menu bar is checked in System Preferences/Time Machine?

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
