am just interested to know if anyone out there in the community knows of OR has figured out a workable shortcut for making a batch change to the duration of clips / photos in the latest version of iMovie ... this is very easily done with «transitions» but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do the same thing for a swag / batch of photos ... any ideas?

You can make batch changes by group-selecting the clips/photos and then clicking on the information button in the tool bar at the upper right of your screen (the circle with an "i" in it). A duration box will appear to the right, into which you can type the duration that you want. Then press the return key on your keyboard. That will change the duration of your clips/photos as a batch to the duration that you set.
For stills, before you start the project you can set the default photo duration by clicking on iMovie/Preferences in the menu bar, and setting the default photo duration in the box that appears. All the stills added to your project will be set at the duration that you chose.
