8TB external drive won't initialize...

Hi, I bought a WD - Easystore 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive (Model: WDBCKA0080HBK-NEBB). I have it connected to my Mac Pro (2013 Black), and trying to initialize it.

I'm using High Sierra 10.13.1 and Disk Utility see's the drive on the left as (disk14s1). When I highlight it and try to Erase the drive, I get the "MediaKit reports not enough space...) message. See attached pics.

How do I erase/initialize this drive?

Hi Grant,

Just got it. Under View, it was set to "Show Only Volumes". When I switched it to "Show All Devices", I was able to click on "WD WDC WD80.... Media" and Erase. The drive is working.

disk14s1 is a Volume.

What does it say when you select in the left column by Hardware-name? is it seen a a Physical Drive of appropriate size?

Have you tried erasing the Physical Drive (not just the Volume)?

Can you Mount the disk (click on the Mount button in Disk Utility)?

If so what does DU report for the disk?

Hi IIIaass, I can't mount the drive. There's no report when I try to mount it. Also, the drive is greyed out. When I try to repair, this is what I get. Thanks!
