apple watch series 3 lte siri connection problem

My new Apple Watch works great when connected to my iPhone using both Wifi and cellular connections. But in standalone LTE mode (i.e. watch not connected to phone nor to WiFi) the watch can only makes or initiate phone calls. Siri, text/iMessages, emails or any phone apps using data don’t work. In particular, Siri responds with "No Siri connection". Does Siri require phone connection?

I’ve searched through the settings and can’t find anything to enable cellular data for the appls. The Cellular tab of Apple Watch App on the iPhone shows 341 KB of data used for “System Services” but nothing for the different apps.

Specifics:
• Apple iPhone 7 with iOS 11.1.1
• Apple watch 3 (LTE) with watch OS 4.1
• ATT (business account) and all carrier settings up to date

Have tried following at Apple Genius Bar:
1. Unpaired and repaired (including backup) – no improvement
2. Unpaired and reset/set up as new – no improvement

3. Ran hardware diagnostics -- watch passed all the tests

Thanks for your help

Problem Solved - I'm a happy camper!

After contacting Apple support (again) we finally concluded that problem was not with Apple hardware or software, but was with my carrier, AT&T. After several lengthy phone calls with AT&T Apple Watch specialist, he agreed to "reinitialize" my cell service. He was able to do so while we were conversing. Then, I shut down the watch and restarted it, and, WOW, everything worked as advertised -- SIRI, mail, messages, weather, stocks. My watch finally was using LTE data in standalone mode. There was no explanation of what had gone wrong or why I had been restricted to only phone calls when using LTE.

jben999,

I have been experiencing the exact same problem as you described! Except, my carrier is Verizon. What does this mean to "reinitialize" your cell service?? I have spoken with Verizon and Apple several times and nobody ever suggested that.. I am at a loss of what to do now and questioning why I would pay an extra $10 per month for a service that is unpredictable. It is strange because the Apple Watch was performing GREAT as a standalone device initially. Now it can't seem to find a signal in the same locations..
