stop smart dns proxy from popping up on mac

Hi,

Since the last few hours I've been struggling to stop the smartdnsproxy from popping on my chrome browser. I am already using another VPN ( Astrill ). I've blocked their address on chrome, but that's not helping. On my DNS server list there was an unknown address showing, and I wasn't able to select and delete it. So I switched off my VPN, and now while that unknown DNS is not showing anymore, but this crazy pop up hasn't stopped.

Would be grateful for your inputs to resolve this.

Recently they include the full product for a trial period after which it defaults back to their "free" version. So you don't have to subscribe unless you want to. The basic difference is between "active" and "passive" adware screening. The subscription would provide the former.
