Bluetooth audio skipping & stuttering, iPhone X, iOS 11.1.2

When I connect my iPhone X to my car bluetooth, all audio from the phone is choppy and stutters but only when I use the phone.

So for example, a song or podcast will be playing without any issues but if I open an app on the phone it will start to be very choppy, distorted and skip, until I stop using the phone or lock it and then the audio resumes normally after a few seconds.

I have tried to reset the car and phone, un-pair and re-pair everything, as well as restore all setting to default on the phone and nothing has worked.

I just switched from an iPhone 6 which is also on iOS 11.1.2 and works perfectly with this car.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and was able to resolve the issue?

Thank in advance everyone!

I found a solution. This might just work for my car but I wanted to write it up anyways FYI, in case it could help someone else, so here goes:

-iPhone X, iOS 11.1.2

-Mercedes Benz E Coupe, 2011

-Mercedes COMAND with Navi

There are two ways to connect the phone to the car. One (1) is to authorize the phone from the car, meaning that you find the phone via the navigation system and go through the setup proccess from there. The second (2) is to select “external autherization” in the navi system meaning that the car becomes discoverable from the Bluetooth settings page on the phone and is selected from there to begin pairing.

Doing it the (1) way is what caused problems for me. I remebered that back when I was setting up my iPhone 6 this would not allow me to connect at all while with my iPhone X it connects but causes the above mentioned problems. The other method (2) worked right away and bluetooth audio is working without any issues so far.

TL;DR - If the car has an option to initate the pairing process from your phone, try that.

Thanks for your suggestion Ilija.

I have tried just about everything over the past two months to get the bluetooth on my new iPhoneX to work with my 2011 E-Class. I just tried your method, and successfully completed a phone initiated pairing but the skipping and feedback noise remains.

This is driving my crazy and Apple support says the problem is my Mercedes, which is ridiculous given that my iPhone 6S worked perfectly and now my iPhone X cannot play music in my car over bluetooth.

Car: 2011 Mercedes Benz E-350 CDI

Phone: December 2017 iPhone X

Any other ideas??
