the last word before the dot com
example: apple.com
is the domain. Safari will show the orgization in green text if it has been identified as legitimate
example:
if you come across a domain such as
apple.support.com, or apple.computer.com, or apple.apple.apple.viruscheck.com, etc.
these are not apple sites, they would be support.com, computer.com and viruscheck.com respectively.
The placement of that name before the dot com can be a quick way to identify a scam like this, although you may see a link like
and the actual destination is fraud
At this time there is no way a web page can identify is any computer has a virus and in addition no credible securities lab has identified a virus for OS X or iOS in the wild. This is not to say that suspicion is always a good policy regardless of what you read on the internet from anyone and everyone, myself included.
It's a scam. There are no known viruses that attack Macs. Apple would never send that.
Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
