Over the months, I have tried several VPN services and deleted most of them. Despite deleting the VPN apps, their VPN profiles are still there and I haven't found a way to delete them on iOS 10.3.3. I think they are causing some trouble as reliable services like NordVPN are unable to function. Thanks for your help.

Hi. Most commercial VPNs are configured by an app, so there is no profile installed. They should have no effect if the app is removed. If you did install a Profile, you will find it in Settings > General > Profile, near the end of General, and you can delete it from there.

Just below that click on profiles delete the one,s you don't want.

If you have a Profile, it will be near the end of Settings > General (not just Settings).
If you do not have a profile, it will not appear.
Your trouble with another VPN service, may not be due to the presence of the data for the other services. You should try to diagnose it.
Maybe I was wrong about the profile thing. They are VPN configurations, they show up on settings > VPN and settings > general > VPN (iOS 10.3.3). Every VPN app adds configuration files but they don't disappear when you remove the apps and there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to delete them. I think my problems with NordVPN might be caused by these files or so I've read. On the iPhone it's the only VPN configuration I have and I don't have any problem. Cheers,
