How to add OKI C511 printer to apple router

I have an Extreme connected by ethernet to an Airport.

Into the Airport I have an OKI C511dn printer connected with a USB cable.

The printer works fine when connected via USB directly to my iMac, but "Cannot be found" or "offline" or "is not connected" when the iMac connects by wifi to the printer when the printer is connected to the Airport.

Yes the general internet works fine, and no I cannot connect using Safari to either IP address below.

I can only guess that this is an IP address issue?

So, no luck with the default configuration (192.168.100.100).

No luck if I change the printers setting to something within my Extreme's range such as 10.0.1.25, either.

I have told the printer it HAS an IP address and also tried it on Auto.

The OKI instructions seem nigh on useless.

I have reset the Extreme each time.

I don't understand how things get addresses, and would have thought it would appear attached to the Airport when using Airpot Utility.

No, that would not be the issue, since a USB printer does not receive an IP address.

The information in your post does not indicate whether you have "installed" the printer.....which is connected to the USB port on the AirPort......on your iMac.

It's clear that you have already "installed" the printer when it is connected directly to your iMac. But, since you are changing the location of the printer when you connect it to the USB port on the AirPort, you must "install" it again on the iMac for the printer at the AirPort location.

Power off the AirPort and the printer

Connect the printer to the USB port on the AirPort

Power up the AirPort for a minute or two

Power up the printer for a minute or two

On your iMac.....Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)

Open Printers and Scanners

Click the + (plus) button at the bottom o the printer list

Hopefully, your printer will appear in the next window

If it does, click on its name to highlight it

Click the Add button at the lower right of the window

Try to print a test document. When the print window appears, you will likely see your printer twice. Note that one location is the printer at the AirPort, and the other is the printer at the iMac. You must choose the printer that is located at your AirPort, not the printer located at the iMac

If your printer is compatible with the AirPort.....(not all USB printers are)....you will be able to print your test document.

Interesting that printer is on a LAN but doesnt get an IP address - didn't know that.

But I did all that you've said, exactly that (stamps foot emoji) and it didn't work for me, but it did when I did it again (shamefaced emoji).

How come I couldn't find this after many hours of searching setups etc!

And why aren't there emojis for what I want (sincere apologies emoji)!!

Very many thanks.
