Can't receive international SMS

I have a strange issue with receiving SMS messages from numbers abroad. For example, I can send texts to my cousin in the UK, but I do not receive texts from him. However, when I am in the UK I can send and receive to/from his number, no problem. My sister however, who is also on the same network provider as me, doesn't have this problem. We both have iPhones, our cousin has an Android.

I also had the same problem with a friend from Bosnia, I could send but I could not receive.

I have an iPhone 7 and I'm currently on iOS 11.1.1

Anyone else have a similar problem?

This is not a phone issue but a plan issue.

Different carriers have rate plans that either include or exclude international taxes or have additional charges to send/receive them.

Check with your carrier for the specific provisions accounting your account.

Thanks for your help. I have asked my provider but they couldn't seem to understand what the problem was either. They gave me a new SIM card saying sometimes when travelling and constantly switching providers it could have blocked something, but that didn't make a difference. I just thought perhaps it's a phone issue since the problem seems to have started when I upgraded from the 4s to the 7. I'll bug my providers again about it. Thanks!
