Aeroplane Mode and Wifi

Since latest iPhone update, wifi is automatically activated when I turn off aeroplane mode. This is annoying as I use aeroplane mode often throughout the day. Any plans to address this issue?

If I turn wifi on or off I do it by swiping the screen upwards.

That does not turn WiFi on or off. That shortcut simply disconnects the phone from the WiFi network it's connected to. That was the point I was trying to make with the article I linked to.

Go to Settings>WiFi and turn it to off. It will not turn on again until you go to Settings>WiFi and turn it back on.

I suspect you're not actually turning WiFi off. If you disconnected from a WiFi network using the WiFi button in the Control Center, it will try to reconnect once you turn Airplane mode off. Turn WiFi off in Settings>WiFi and it will not come back on until you turn it on.
