What is the screen called on ipad that shows up when you double-click the home button

On my iPad with iOS 11, when I double-click the home button, this screen comes up. Sorry for being a nube, but what is it’s name? I’m specifically looking for instructions on how to customize it. I have a pretty good grip on adding/deleting apps from the dock at the bottom, but am I able to customize the right hand menu? i.e. can a Settings button be put in that space below the camera button. I googled til I was blue. Thanx in advance.

The term for that right column is the control center. It can be configured somewhat in Settings > Control Center by adding, removing, or reordering controls from a fixed list. Unfortunately, there is no control provided that accesses the Settings app.

For completeness:

The bar across the bottom is called the dock.

The upper left area is the app switcher.
