"Best viable workaround is to turn off third-party notifications. If you’re not sure which apps employ local, repeating notifications, turn them all off."

From this article linked by MacSchr:

December 2nd is making some iPhones soft reset

I'm sure Apple will release an official fix soon.

"If you cannot disable your notifications, then temporarily roll back your date and time to 1 week ago, this will enable you to disable your notifications and then you can return to the current date and time without glitches."

Also

  • Disable Background App Refresh (Settings > General)
  • Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings (use as last resort, or just wait for a fix and play outside)

Failing that, a drastic solution is as follows and it's always a good idea to do a backup:

I've been suggesting this in other discussions if Reset All Settings doesn't work.

First backup:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch(Document Type: Document) Nov 30, 2017 Before you get started, learn the difference between iCloud and iTunes backups, then choose the method that's best for you. If you need an alternative backup, you can make one in iCloud and another in iTunes.https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977

Then restore:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup(Document Type: Document) Nov 7, 2017 Restore from an iCloud backup Restore from an iTunes backup https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

You will need to know your iPhone/iPad pin number and your Apple ID/password to do it. It's a full restore, but will end up the same as before hopefully without the December 2 2017 Oceania Bug.

iOS 11.2 is now available.

Settings > General > Update

You might need to use some of the below steps to stabllize your phone first to do the update.

N.B. For countries not yet affected please note this problem occurs at 12:15AM (00:15UTC) on December 2nd 2017, therefore it first became a problem in countries like NZ and AU in Oceania and then Asia.

It also has the date bug however if like me you didn't install ios11.2 till after the date bug has surfaced it fixed the date bug.

If you installed 11.2 a few days ago i think the only way to fix is to reinstall from a backup or hard reset or manually change date to dec1st. (Cant confirm tho till someone thats already got ios11.2 fixes their problems )

For those who are experiencing this issue after December 2nd (mine started this morning December 13th) I found a way to stop the restart whilst trying to download the update...

Change your date to before December 2nd, then go-to Settings > General > Software Update... you'll have to be quick.

Then HOLD your finger on the screen the entire time whilst Software Update downloads. When the update started installing I kept touching the screen and update installed. I had an issue where it wouldn't accept my iCloud password so I skipped and then went to change the Date and Time back and then when the iCloud prompt came up again it accepted the password. Hope this helps some people.
