Please explain how this is helpful when you have app updates and all these apps get turned back on and you have to go through this again because you don't really use the App drawer and would rather turn it off.

WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO TURN THE APP DRAWER OFF AND NOT SEE IT NEXT TO THE PICTURE ICON WHEN SENDING TEXT MESSAGES...BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE USE THEIR TEXT MESSAGES FOR SIMPLE COMMUNICATION AND NOT A GAME OF PICTOGRAPH OR BLOWING THROUGH THEIR DATA PLAN.

Hello, Her Radicalness!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand from your post that you would like to turn off the app drawer at the bottom of your Messages app conversations. I am happy to help.

While it's not possible to permanently disable the app drawer, you can hide it by tapping the grey App Store icon at the bottom of your conversation. You can also manage what you see in the app drawer using the following steps:

User uploaded file

Manage iMessage apps

You can add apps that you use the most to your Favorites so you have quick access to them in the app drawer. You can also reorder apps in the app drawer, remove the ones you don’t want, and more. Here’s how:

  1. Tap User uploaded file to open the app drawer. Then tap User uploaded file.
  2. Tap Edit in the upper-right corner to do the following:
    • To add an app to your Favorites, tap User uploaded file.
    • To remove an app, tap User uploaded file.
    • To reorder apps in the app drawer, touch and hold User uploaded file, then move the apps in the order that you want.
    • To hide an app, turn it off.
  3. Tap Done.

To delete an iMessage app, open the app drawer, tap User uploaded file, then swipe left over the app and tap Delete.

Use iMessage apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Let us know if you have any questions!

Have a great day!
