Facetime broken

Hi,

I updated to iOS 11 from 10 when I got the iPhone X on 3 Nov. Now, whenever I Facetime it slows my phone down to almost a complete halt after I'm done. I can't even exit Facetime through the app cycler. I have to restart the phone every single time. Home screen gestures are so slow; switching between apps becomes slow and unresponsive.

I also have no option when facetiming to hang up, switch cameras, or anything! This happened when I first got the X, and I've installed every update as well. I've attached screenshots. I also have a screen recording which shows it going super slow. I can't attach it I dunno why

Please someone help me! This is so annoying! It's been going on since last monthUser uploaded fileUser uploaded file

As you can see from the screenshots 1) is just a black facetime screen after they hung up and 2) I can't close it. Thanks for you help!

Hi nkamato,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Based on the nature and scope of what you are describing (iPhone is significantly impaired after using FaceTime), you may want to try reinstalling a fresh copy of iOS to help resolve (or at least rule out) any system software issues. Once iOS is reinstalled, you will want to test and see if the issue persists or returns. The process is outlined in the following article under the section "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" (the article itself is aimed at a slightly different issue, but the steps outlined are still applicable in this case):

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

Note: While this process generally shouldn't affect your data or settings, it's always best to have a full backup of your data just in case. If you haven't recently backed up your device, you may also find this article helpful:
