Why does my IPhone/ earphones keep breaking ?

I've had my iPhone 6s for two years this December , and there are no cracks or damage anywhere , yet My 3rd pair of 5th gen earpods this year have broken ! I do not chew or misuse my earphones ( although my music is fairly loud ) and each time they break , they activate Siri , skip , pause and play music / videos until I can no longer use them . I read up online the time my 3rd pair started doing it and people had said it could be a build up of lint , so I cleared my jack and the controller with any built up dirt/fluff ( there was hardly any) . It stopped for a few days and then came back in waves , depending on movement sometimes ( e.g stopping when still , starting with movement ) . The other day my left earphone stopped working completely . I've been to the Apple Store each time this has happened and been given a new pair with the explanation that it is probably the controller which is causing disturbance , but I'm now not convinced and think it may be my phone and something to do with the software in the earphones ... help ?
