Airdrop cannot send on new iPhone 8 plus

I have been able to retrieve airdrops just fine but I cannot send them. My wife is able to airdrop her entire family but I can't send anyone an airdrop picture. I have done the following things to try to resolve this but nothing has worked so far.

1. Made sure wifi and Bluetooth are both turned on

2. Made sure my airdrop setting were to "Contacts Only" same as my wife

3. made sure I had the latest software update

4. cycled airplane mode

5. Turned phone on and off multiple times

6. Made sure I was logged onto iCloud

7. Made sure I had Hotspot turned off.

Can someone please help? I am a recent convert to iPhone from a Galaxy Note 5 and I would love to use this feature to send photos.

I have had problems with AirDrop and tried all the usual remedies without success. Eventually, with some tinkering it now works for all my contacts.

With "Contacts Only" it would not work but it would work when set to "Everyone" and after that "Contacts Only" worked for that specific contact.

Logging out and back in to iCloud also seemed to help resolve issues with particular contacts.

One suggestion from Apple which did not work for me but may for others was to ensure that a contact had in their contact information the email address used for Apple ID.
