I have the same problem. It’s not linked to the site visited. It’s ANYWHERE I go. It closes the site I’m on and redirects. There are fake buttons on the site I’m redirected too. This is clearly malware. We need a better solution than “Clear your cache”

I too am having this issue on an iPhone 7. I did a complete re-install of the OS, and the pop-up still occurs. This happens on Safari and also other browsers like Edge, so the problem is either iOS or the ISP (AT&T in my case) is not secure. What the heck? This reminds me of the virus problems Windows had in the early 2000s, but this time it is in a sandboxed environment.

Hi there pwpky.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities and thanks for asking your question about the pop-up. I know pop-ups can be a real annoyance and I'm happy to help you sort this out today.

You've done a lot of good troubleshooting so far. The one thing I would recommend you try is to first force close Safari, and then clear history, clear data, turn the iPad off and on, and then open Safari again.

How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data

Also be sure that Block Pop-ups is turned on.

Please let me know that this resolved your issues.

Take care.

I have cleared website data, cleared out advanced website data and verified that pop-up blocker was active. No joy. I still get the Congratulations Google User pop-up. Each time, I clear everything again. Same result. BTW, each time I also remove Safari from the recent app cache.

Most likely linked to the website you are visiting. You can't stop ads and what not from the websites you visit as there aren't extensions like AdBlock on iPad. Also, the website is likely redirecting to another website, so a pop up blocker could be completely useless anyway.

You could try using Chrome or another browser.

I’m having the same issue. I can’t even use the back button to get out of it. I’ve noticed it mostly when linking out from Facebook. So is it an issue in their end or malware on my new iPhone 8? I did not have this issue with my 7.
