Let Siri do her job in lock screen

I am riding on my bike with the headset on and I ask Siri to open Spotify and play a song. I have granted lock screen access to Siri but still she keeps on telling me that I have to unlock my phone in order for her to do the job and open an app.

How can I adjust the settings to get her working as expected?

Important "sensitive" Apps have a seperate passcode themselves, so there is no problem at all by letting Siri open all remaining apps the way the user wants to. When one allows Siri to "work when locked" that means exactly that.

Then tell Apple that you'd like to see that:

The real issue is what apps can be opened without a passcode, which is the same thing as saying what apps can be opened by Siri from the lock screen.

There are some apps that it would be OK to open without a passcode, and others that definitely would not be OK to open without a passcode. I leave it to the reader to find examples of each, but I have a few in mind. The problem is that Siri has no way of knowing which are OK to open and which are not. With almost 2 million apps available it's an impossible job, unless Apple adds a switch for each app in, say, Settings/Privacy, that would let a user select apps that it's OK to open without a passcode.

Thanks for your suggestion I have followed all steps.

To be clear my headset transmits the audio to the phone where Siri picks it up and gives me a response. The hardware process is set up well.

So the phone is in my pocket the headset is connected and listening when I call Siri and ask her to do me a favor and open up an app like Spotify.

Her response to my request is “you have to unlock the phone before I can do that”

For obvious reasons I don’t want to Put off my gloves reach into my pocket And unlock the phone just to complete this very simple task.

Where can I set the property: allow Siri to open applications in lock screen mode?

Siri can do lots of things from the lock screen. However, if you want to open an app you have to enter your passcode. That is how is supposed to work. Siri has somewhat more access to Apple's built in apps from the lock screen than it has to third party apps. For example, if you say, "Hey, Siri, play some music", Siri can play music from the built in Music app without unlocking the phone.

You can certainly submit feedback to Apple here:

Are you sure about this? Name one reason why this is how it’s supposed to work (actually not work, see the problem?)

Yes, I'm pretty sure about this. As to why, for the same reason anything works the way it does on an iPhone: because that's the way Apple decided to make it work. At a guess, I'd say for security reasons. If you can open apps without a passcode using Siri, what is the point in even having a passcode? Your phone is no longer secure.

Clearly Siri can access the most sensitive Apps like Phone, Contacts and Messaging. So there goes point number one. Point number two: What about thinking in favor of the user's security instead of the phone security?

Phone security IS user security; they are not separable. Suppose the police seize your phone. Under your scenario they could say "Hey siri, show any **** on this phone." Or, if you live in a repressive country where you could go to jail for messages you send, so you use a secure messaging app such as Signal or Whatsapp, "Hey Siri, open the Signal app"

Hi Lawrence,

the answer here is very simple you practically proposed it yourself already.

I cannot imagine any different scenary that makes remotely sense, what is Siri good for when she's not allowed to do her Job?

Let Siri do her job in lock screen
