Should I upgrade my Macbook Pro?

Hi!

My MacBook Pro's (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) graphics card started to flake badly after installing High Sierra, which makes my screen die constantly whenever I'm editing video, photo, or any other "demanding" task. (I'm a photographer editor, so I do need the power) Plus my battery is mega old and has to be replaced. According to Apple, that's about $900 to replace the logic board and battery.

My question is: Is it really worth paying $900 bucks to have my 5 year old Macbook Pro repaired, or should I just invest in a new Macbook Pro 2017?

My Mac does work well besides randomly shutting down, but I don't know how many more years of proper life it's got left. Should I just spend $900 and milk it till its inevitable and unclear death ? Or should I just get a new one for three times more but more life years ahead...

Here are the specs:

2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB...

Thanks a lot

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), null

I'm debating this same question, however my situation is not as dire as yours (maybe because I haven't upgraded to High Sierra). My apprehension is my MBPRO has a 1TB solid state drive and the new models don't have an option for that large of SSD. Understanding your circumstances, I would bite the bullet and get the new model. Good luck.
