imap.aol.com not responding with Compuserve email address on iPhone

Hello,

I have spent a few hours on this trying different POP and IMAP servers etc.

I went to Mail Settings Lookup - Apple Support -

to get what Apple recommended and entered my email address Myemail@cs.com, and got the following settings:

The CS is for Compuserve.

I get this error:

I know my network is working because I can access other email accounts. When I added the CS email address I selected the option "Other" since it was not Yahoo, iCloud etc.

I named the email account JoAnne Email.

1) Why would CS use AOL.com for IMAP?

2) Could someone verify the settings for me for IMAP and POP?

Thanks for your reply.

I had tried the article you posted about CompuServe. I tried the .CSI, but it was invalid. I do not remember the error message. I went to Apple.com and typed in the email address Myemail@cs.com, with the

.CS, and APPLE.COM is recommending AOL.COM. I am helping my friend who is not very knowledgeable with Apple products to get this to work. Maybe you are correct and Compuserve is using AOL services. I also tried this set up in this link: https://www.email-settings.com/iphone/compuserve-mail-setup

I was hoping there was a CS user that uses APPLE products that could help.

Hi. It would be most unusual for a mail server to not require SSL nowadays.

Certainly, AOL does. The settings for imap.aol.com should be port 993, SSL required.

And if you need to use smtp.aol.com, it's port 465, SSL required

We used Compuserve back in the dial-up era. Are they still in business? That may be why they're using AOL for imap.

Since CompuServe appears to be essentially dead, I think the sites you're finding have long outdated info.

The link I posted was updated last month, so it should be current.

If you configured the correct ports and enabled SSL, those servers should work.

I could help further if you would report the error message.
