There is no way you can activate it. Activation lock is tied to the owners password. You are not the owner, hence activation lock is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, which is prevent anyone but the owner from using it. It doesn’t matter that it is lost and you cannot find the owner. It’s not yours to use.

No **** , it’s doing what it’s suppose to . For your information MICHAEL , I am well aware that I am not the owner of this device , I have tried to contact the owner , but unfortunately the cell number he/she left on the device to call is not in service . I also went into the phone company and the associate there was not able to pull up any updated information for the imei for this phone . I neeed some useful information, not some dumb *** remark .

You got useful device. Turn it in to the police. There is nothing you can do to use it yourself or find the owner - nobody, not Apple, not the carrier - is going to tell you anything about the owner. They are not going to violate privacy laws and give you personal information about anybody else.

People offered you useful advice. All you offered back was insults.

Well Michael thanks for your “advice” . When I went into the phone company, it was not to try and get personal information for me to take home and use that information for personal reasons , I went there to turn in the device. When the associate pulled up the account , the information on the account had been “fake” from what he had found . The name on the account John Dough ((John Doe) , I didn’t need to get into full details of what i had already done ok . I simply just asked what could be done “AFTER” I did all that, without going into the whole details of all that I did to try and get it back to the owner ok . So the reason the number that the “owner “ left on his iPhone to contact was not in service , because the owner himself is not in service either . LOL! The owner probably stole the iPhone his self or whatever his reason is for not wanting to be known . ANYWAY , guess what , I was able to make use of it by using it for parts for a friend that broke her screen , her iPhone 7 Plus will no longer be water resistant but she was able to save herself some money . Love life !

You had specifically stated "I want to activate this phone now but I can not contact the owner". And as is indeed the case, you were told, no, there is no way to do that.

You asked a specific question, and were given a specific and accurate response. But you just could not politely ask another or different question, you had to toss in personal insults?

All you had to do was say something like "okay, can I use it for parts" or any other, polite response with no rudeness nor attitude. But you chose instead to take the snarky, insulting response approach. That typically won't earn you any respect or help in a community forum.

I am very aware of the question I had posted . It’s exactly what i has been trying to ask the “community “ it seems everyone’s dumb response Is “turn it into police “ if the phone company was unable to contact the owner , what makes you people think the police could . Which by rhe way I did check with my local police station here and they advised me that they had no reports of a “lost or stolen” iPhone matching the description. Thank you “community “ for your useless help. Have a beautiful day ! Never will visit this site again
