How to rename a spreadsheet in Numbers on IPad

Since the latest update on IOS, the ability to change the name of a spreadsheet in numbers (or Pages) from ”Blank” has gone away. I used to just tap Blank and could change the name and save.

Does anyone know how to make this change when using on IPad Pro?

Hi Navitol,

Pages was updated on my iPad two days ago, and the iOS version is 11.0.3.

I found that tapping the Document name had no effect whatever.

Tapping the table name selected the box containing that name and opened the small contextual menu with two choices: Copy and Name Actions. Tapping Name actions opened a dialogue labeled Table Name with a button to Hide Table Name, and four icons: a pair of scissors, two icons that implied 'move back' and 'move forward', and a trash can.

A double-tap on the name eventually did bring up the keyboard and put the insertion point into the name, after which a single tap to the right of the name moved the insertion point to the end of the name, permitting editing by deleting the individual characters and typing in the new Table name.

Editing the Sheet name was similar.

Not the most user-friendly process in existence, but probably workable with practice (and perhaps easier with the help of a stylus like Apple Pen). NOt a struggle that will make me move from Mac to iPad as the prime device for using Numbers, though.

Having had that success, I returned to the Document name.

Still no response to a tap, a double-tap, a triple-tap or a swipe (any direction), with one finger, two fingers or three fingers.

😟

Regards,

Barry
