delete 'other' account from lock screen

Hi, I want to disable the 'Other' option which suddenly appeared in my lock screen... the Guest User option is (and always was) off and I can't figure out why this 'Other' option added. I'm using Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.1 on my MacBook Pro 2016.

thanks!

I had a similar problem could not get rid of the 'Other' from the login window. Tried to enable and disable root. 'Other' was still there! but I finally found a solution that worked!

1. Make sure you are logged in on a administrator account. If you only have one account then you are the administrator.

2. Open Terminal.

3. Copy and paste this command into terminal sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow SHOWOTHERUSERS_MANAGED -bool FALSE

4. Enter you administrator password and then press enter.

5. Wait until you see yourcomputername :~ yourusername$ in a new line.

6. Quit terminal and restart and the 'Other' option should be gone.

Let me know if this works!

The guest user has nothing to do with Other.

Other allows logging into "hidden" user accounts. The most common "hidden" account is the root user. For some odd reason, it gets enabled for some people when installing High Sierra.

Here is how to disable it if it has been enabled: How to enable the root user on your Mac or change your root password - Apple Support
