Why does iMovie not see iPad Pro videos when I try to import them
It's probably because your iPad is using IOS11 and the file used the HEVC encoder. You need iMovie 10.1.8 and High Sierra to process HEVC files. There is an option in settings>camera to export using the H-264 encoder.
