apple tv generation 1 not airplay streaming from iphone despite both devices on same wi fi network

atv1g only support airtunes not airplay airtunes only works from computers using iTunes

I'm not sure if this will help, but I find that most of the time when using Airplay on my iDevices to Apple TV, that it won't work when I click the Airplay icon in the corner of the video when I'm on the YouTube app (or most apps), It should Airplay only the video and gray out my devices screen. But that barely ever happens. I always have to open control center and do screen mirroring to Apple TV and mirror my iPhone's entire screen then play the YouTube video or whatever.

I would also go to settings on apple TV and make sure Airplay is enabled. Another thing maybe worth checking on either, is Restrictions settings, maybe theres something conflicting thats enabled?
